The Huawei MatePad 10.8 is a new and latest Pad in the Mate series and it comes with a large display and falls under the budget category.The MatePad 10.8 has combo cameras set up and massive battery capacity. Its slightly bigger than the Huawei Enjoy Tablet 2 and the good news is that it comes with a cellular network.
Design And Display
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 has a nice body that is built with all plastic and a smooth panel housing the cameras set up and an LED flash. It measures 257 x 170 x 7.2 mm in dimensions and weighs 500 grams which are way heavier than the Enjoy Tablet 2.
The front side is built with glass and it offers a screen size of 10.8 inches with IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The screen has a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and 280 PPI density. It also has a 77.4% screen-to-body ratio. You will get display protection on the Pad as well.
There is a dual-camera configuration on the Pad. The main snapper on the back is a single 13 MP that features LED flash, HDR, panorama and it can also record 1080p@30fps video quality. The front camera is 8 MP with HDR and 1080p@30fps video support. This is a big upgrade over the one available on the Enjoy Tablet 2.
Hardware And Software
On the software, the Huawei MatePad 10.8 runs on the Android 10 operating system with EMUI 10.1 but there is no Google Play Services. However, you can still install Google Play Services on the Pad by following the instructions here. It has Kirin 990 chipset and an octa-core processor clocking at 2×2.86 GHz Cortex-A76 & 2×2.09 GHz Cortex-A76 & 4×1.86 GHz Cortex-A55. The MatePad also features Mali-G76 MP16 for graphics and gaming.
Storage Capacity And Sensors
The inbuilt storage on the Pad is 64GB and 6GB RAM while the bigger model has up to 128GB and still 6GB RAM. You can further expand the memory via a micro SDcard. The sensors on the MatePad are Fingerprint (front-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 has a massive battery of 7500 mAh with fast charging technology. The battery will last for days under normal usage. It has a Nano-SIM that carries support for the 4G LTE network. Other network options on the device includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, GPS and 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector; magnetic connector.
